Re: Gift of healing...
There are other places we are told to go out and spread the gospel message. But even if we weren't told to do this, wouldn't it just be natural to want to tell other people the message that we were saved by?
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
Now the passage you are talking about, also says this:
Mark 16:
18They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
So if you are consistent, are you taking up serpents? Can all those that have the gift of healing, also drink deadly drinks and not be harmed?
No, Thorn didn't contribute to that last reply or any of the others really. He's too busy working lately. But I told him he needs to follow along these conversations so he can be more prepared with his friend. His friend is just starting out in all this. You are way ahead of him. So Thorn can learn from you what his friend's arguments are going to be as he keeps getting more and more into all this.
I've learned a lot from you Ed, so I thank you for that. I wouldn't have known as much about all of this if it were not for you. It's like I've told Refreshed before, she may not ever come to believe the way I do on certain doctrines, but she's at least got more of an understanding now of the other side's position.
I think it would be good to learn more about Muslim doctrines too, and the Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, Catholics, etc. because it certainly does help to know how to talk to them if you know where they are coming from in their beliefs. But mostly, above all, we must study the truth in the scriptures, because that's how we will grow in discernment and be able to spot the counterfeit easier.
