Reincarnation, angelic beings and ancient mythology
Sorry, there I beg to differ.
I believe in the ability of angels to manifest in physical form (as alluded to again and again in scripture, especially in the physical form of Jesus' resurrected body,
And the very likelihood of the truth of the ''sons of God'' described in genesis trying to dilute the human genepool to further the desire to own the earth for themselves,
But beyond that the very nature of my experience in life, coupled with study of scripture both biblical and apocryphal, brings a great tear-filed ''No!'' In my heart!
The description of the bhuddistic beliefs about the souls/spirits' journey through the realm of the demons is quite eye opening, and the self denial and extremes of the Indian guru culture isn't really to my taste either.
The story of siddhartha is sweet.. And the stories of Shiva and such interesting. The fact that there are giant bhudda sculptures in western north Africa makes no secret of the fact that the trade of ideas along the silk road between the folk from India, China, tibet, germany, babylon and Egypt is and was absolutely nothing new.
Reincarnation was one of the subjects I spent a lot of time on after cancer and a move to a non-English- country. There are fascinating arguments for it as an integral part of hebraic and maybe as a background element to Christian beliefs, but I feel it is more likely one of the underlying tenets of judaic mysticism and especially from the myths of Ishtar and Tammuz from Sumer. (Was to later become babylon if I don't have my order of the euphrates valley civs wrong)
A lot of ideas were carried out of babylon by the remaining Israelites.
Mythologies, ancient histories and legends are one of those geek-of-the-week things for me. ;-)
