Re: The Saviour, Not a Helper...
No, Vertek, that is the way earthly leaders act, constantly.
Scripture consistently points out that God the Father, Yahweh, is consistent, as he was from the very beginning, to the very end. He was the one who laid out the ten commandments and edicts of right living for the Israelites, and told them that every blessing He promised them is theirs if they follow that law.
Is God above that Law?
I believe He was instructing the Israelites how to live without tresspassing their creator and the one that chose to intimately care about them.
But would God, knowingly having given his own edicts, tresspass his own law? No. He would not be a consistent, powerful, omnipotent and all-knowing God then.
'The one that made the law, is above the law.'
This is the way men think of law..
Personally, I see it more in these ramifications-
The law is an expression of God's nature of inviolate goodness and purity, like an expression of his nature- and it is an invitation to those who would enter His kingdom (of the mind and spirit) to follow Jesus' footsteps.
Willingly. Not as a slave to the law, as the people who sat in the seat of Moses and used the law as a place of power and abuse,
But as a way to understand how man can act- as it was meant to be, before the fall.
One only needs read Jesus' answers to the pharisees to understand how he felt about and interpreted the law! He was constantly telling those he healed to 'go and sin no more', and how else should we know what sin is, than by the Mosaic law?
'you don't believe Jesus is God, and so I can see why you would have a problem with that statement.'
Vertek, what is this spirit of attack that comes out of your fingers when you type?
Are you angry with Trapper for answering you?
Be careful!
By your own words you're judged before the Father, and Jesus shares the Father's nature, passionately.
Please do not offend the Holy Spirit with vehemence and spittle towards another person of faith.
If Trapper is wrong, it is the place of God to correct him for it. If I am wrong, it is the place of God to convict me of it. If you are wrong, it is God's place to instruct you.
The epistles and instructions in the new testament give guidance for correcting a wayward brother.
Anything else is acting out of the adamic, impredictable, fearful, and sometimes violent nature.
Isn't this a truth too..? Our perspectives on God, His law, His ways, and His salvation are terribly often incomplete in this life.
It is not to wise at all to spark quarrel, but to speak the truth in love. How else are we to fulfill the scripture in the new testament, 'the world shall know them by the love they have for one another'? Everything else is pride and vanity. Paul had to correct fellow congregations consistently for these sorts of things.
Is our saviour not our helper..?
The Helper and friend He sent us is the Holy Spirit, the same friend and helper He operated by for His whole ministry here on Earth.
He is indeed our intercessor and intermediary in the presence of God,
But perhaps you meant to express the thoughts,
that instead of the demasculinating way so many people portray him--

He's more the Lion of Judah?
