Re: Has anyone ever been helped by adaptogens...ever?!?
I did not (and still don't) have the financial resources to order saliva or hair analysis tests. I'm hoping to test soon, but I can't say if my cortisol levels are unstable or not. They could be optimally stable and there may an underlying issue, but my inability to endure and tolerate stress is a huge indicator of adrenal problems (tremors, shaking, slurring etc. when anxious or stressed).
I think that the fatigue was so debilitating and the prolonged glucose deprivation definitely accelerated an adrenal crisis. I have no history of anxiety attacks or any general anxiety.
I have tried adrenal glandulars, beef liver supplements, thyroid gland supplements etc. All promoted these types of reactions (vertigo, headaches, fatigue, intense brain fog).
I refuse to take any prescribed medication or adhere to any nonsense coined by a blogger.
After all my efforts, toying with thyroid medications, consulting with specialised endocrinologists, failed visit after visit with GPs and even a naturopath, I'm financially drained and honestly there isn't much adrenal support here in the UK. I'm forced to self-navigate.
I reintroduced organic, grass fed yoghurt to my diet only about a week ago and I'm starting to see some improvements with my mood, energy, overall cognition and motivation. I eliminated dairy about six months ago due to my lactose intolerance but I bought lactase enzymes to help digest the lactose and it's working pretty good. I'm also sleeping earlier, waking up earlier, minimising stress and relaxing as much as I can. I can only hope I truly recover soon.
