Re: Has anyone ever been helped by adaptogens...ever?!?
Do you know if any of the herbs you mentioned have a direct lowering cortisol effect.
I think I got myself partly into this pickle b/c I was using cordyseps. I had read it can be beneficial to respitory system. I was doing hard rides up canyons and needed a boost to keep up with the pack. Little did I know that cordyseps had a cortisol lowering component so I was probably compromising my energy level when I really needed it.
Cortisol lowering supplements like ashwangda make me feel depressed. I just read article that on ARL website that
Depression is associated with fatigue and lowered cortisol levels. My hair analysis showed weak adrenals yet I still have high cortisol symptoms like very bad insomnia.
I can't tell you the hundreds and hundreds of dollars I spent on supplements and not one of them has helped put me on road to recovery. Some have made it worse. I can't tell you how many ND I have been to. During initial exam when they are hungry for your business they will tell you it will take about 3-6 months to start feeling better. When you don't improve, they start guessing and throwing more or different supplements at you like you are a lab rat.
I have yet to meet one dr who said.,,this is what you have, you have to do this supplement at this time..this is how you will feel.,,then this will happen and voila in 3 months you start to feel better. While I like to believe that less is more, that didn't work either. I went for 4 months just focusing on trying to get sleep any way I could. This didn't heal my adrenals either. There has to be a happy medium.
If anyone knows of such a dr in the LA area...let me know.
