Re: 11th day water fasting and suffering, need help
Congratulations on 11 Days.
Your detox symptoms sound like hell, however it is showing that your body is detoxing. Epson salt bath, enemas and extra naps tend help me. During my first water fast, my detox symptoms were also grueling, but I had not prepared myself by eating well or taking short fasts in the prior months. Days 6-13 were pure misery, yet by day 15 my body rebounded and days 17-24 were somewhat enjoyable with only an occasional dizzy spell if I stood up to quickly.
Fast Your Way to Health by J. Harold Smith is a good book with a Christian perspective. Out of print, but I found a copy on Amazon.
Herbert Shelton Fasting Can Save Your Life is very helpful.
Shelton talks about vomiting bile from the liver as a common detox sign, with potential dehydration being the biggest concern. He recommends breaking the fast if unable to keep down adequate water. Even slight dehydration can stress the heart. Also your kidneys, liver, bowels need extra water during a fast to flush out the toxins. If you are not getting enough water, other detox symptoms may feel worse because toxins are not getting flushed out quickly enough.
Personally, bunked up bowels causes all sorts of additional grief for me. It took me a while to get the connection.
colonics and enemas aren't discussed much but I found them very helpful. I found an enema kit online for a reasonable price, however I had a couple of professional
colonics before I went the DIY route. As silly as it sounds, putting your feet up on a small stool when you sit on the toilet helps elimination
If your symptoms are intolerable or risking dehydration you may want to consider alternating between a
Water Fast and juice/broth, and extend past 3 weeks. It's slower, but may be as effective for what you are fasting for.
Is your current doctor receptive to the idea of water fasting?
Good luck to you
