Re: Why Are There So Many Churches (EDIT)
I think your question is very valid, what Jesus are we worshiping? God made man in his own image, but man also likes to try to make God into man's own image. There is only one Jesus Christ, not the many different Jesus' that various Churches and sects have crafted according to their own opinions. That is why we read the New Testament. It gives a perfect testament of the real Jesus, who really lived on this earth, God incarnate as the Son. The New Testament is like bread for the spiritual seeker who wants to know Christ. We read the words and we lock in on that glorious being who is Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, Yeshua, the Savior of the world, whatever you want to call him, he is only one, and once you find him, then He told us everything that we need to do next all in the Bible.
But I also think you'll agree with me that when you meet someone who is completely saturated in Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, being with this kind of person (not the phonies and those true of faith and heart will always know who the real ones are if we meet them in person) is also like bread for the seeker of Christ. The real Church of Christ may or may not exist on this earth right now, but certainly his true followers do exist and they are filling this world with light and life.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the actual word, Trinity, appears in the Bible does it? Regardless, the concept of the Trinity, is a true and correct concept that we can understand from various passages in the Bible. It is easy to understand the general concept of the Trinity but the goal is to experience the Trinity for ourselves, then we know. It is one thing to read, pray, but another thing completely to experience. We can read of the Holy Spirit, pray to receive it, feel the hintings and guidance but once you receive the Holy Spirit and are filled with complete joy and bliss, that is the experience of the Holy Spirit, another matter completely than understanding it. The Holy Spirit gives the second baptism of fire. It is by the grace of the Son that we receive the second baptism of the Holy Spirit. No man is saved without receiving the second baptism of the Holy Spirit. The same goes with the Son and the Father, you can read about them and understand the concepts but it is another thing completely to be in their presence and experience them. Each entity, the Holy Spirit, the Son and the Father are unique and distinct, we can call each of them God, but even the human concept of the word God is so skewed that it has lost all meaning. But once you have the experience, then all debates and all concepts, even all words that you would use to describe these entities are destroyed and irrelevant and you just know. That is what Jesus wants, he wants us to know Him, not just as a concept but as a real being, he wants us to have the experience of Him.
