I think those church goers were forced to go by fear and thus their believe could not manifest in a form to hold on the creator. they did not Love and the believe come true to their liking. the spirit of God is Love or emotion or vibration or aura and this solidify the believe, like two polarity and the energy crosses and form a thing; this idea is being tried many proof now in Science to understand the nature of God. like you say the bride and brideroom but not so much thunder or that please that One high, our Lord. I wonder now if Science has tried to proof better about the existence of God then the church. all what has manifest is false love, false hope backed with fear. a lie in the heart, no God, or connection to allow the spirit to come in and speak to the person - why? they care only about control, no understaning ,light, and formation as needed and would be send by Love of God to his people. why miracle takes place? even to save soul?
