Athlete's Foot

Use a Natural Home Remedy for Athlete's Foot

(NaturalNews) It's estimated that 70 percent of the population will experience athlete's foot at one point in their lives. Athlete's foot is often treated topically, but most don't know that athlete's foot is often a symptom of a larger fungal overgrowth in the body called candida overgrowth. It's said that athlete's foot is often obtained from gym showers, but the truth is: If you had a body free of candida overgrowth in the first place, you'd likely be unaffected by any surface fungus. Most athlete's foot can be effectively treated topically with home remedies, but it's important to consider that the pesky problem is often just a sign of a larger candida problem. In doing so, you may find the answers to other health problems you're experiencing.

To treat athlete's foot at home, twice a day sprinkle a pinch of powdered acidophilus between your toes and into cotton socks that you'll be wearing. The acidophilus creates an environment that's inhospitable for the fungus, and before long your problem will be gone.

It's also important that your feet, especially between your toes, are kept dry - so dry your feet well after showering and before sprinkling the acidophilus on. If you use a towel to dry the infected areas, wash it afterward. Using a tissue to dry between your toes is also effective, but either way, wash your hands after touching your feet until the problem has been removed.

Massaging coconut oil into your feet each evening will boost your home remedy efforts. After your massage, just sprinkle on the acidophilus and wear cotton socks to bed. Again, be sure to wash your hands well after touching your feet.

Coconut oil is a powerful anti-fungal and it forms a protective barrier on the skin. As a bonus, your feet will become softer and the skin more supple too. Coconut oil can also replace other foot or body lotions on an ongoing basis for anti-fungal protection and simply to reduce the number of chemicals applied to your skin.

After the fungus has been eliminated, it's helpful to sprinkle a little aluminum-free baking soda in your shoes or socks to keep your feet dry. This is important because athlete's foot thrives in moisture.

Following these protocols, most athlete's foot can be cleared up in a few weeks. To protect yourself from other chronic fungal infections, you might want to consider swallowing a couple teaspoons of coconut oil each day too, in addition to regularly consuming acidophilus and Bifidobacteria based probiotics.
