Re: Do what I did - jump to the higher doses! (My experience thus far...)

Dr Schwarzbein writes in "The Schwarzbein principle II, The Transition" that the body will not willingly start burning off her fat until it has healed her metabolism. You may force your body to burn off fat by either eating too little calories or eating too little carbs, but she says that's not healthy.

She writes: Once your habits are restored to healthy habits, the body will start rebuilding. For this you need sufficient (but not excessive) amounts of insulin. She advises an amount of carbs that is equivalent to about one slice of bread per meal.

Before I read this, I was practivally on zero carbs. That felt save, although I had very little energy on zero carbs in the beginning (12 years ago): my body wasn't burning fat very well any more. Later I learned why this was and I was able to correct this: B-vitamins, l-carnitine and others. Since Iodine I burn fat easily!

Since I've read about the insulin - rebuilding relationship in her book, I've started adding a little carb to every meal. Usually as fruit juice or whole fruit. But also sometimes as lentils or sweet potatoes.

I still have fat around my mid-section. But now I know about the insulin - rebuilding relationship, I'm in less of a hurry to get rid of it: once my metabolism is healed, my body will burn off the excess fat in it's own time. I focus on my health, not on my appearance. Once you're healthy, you'll be beautiful!

BTW: I lost 25 kilo about 10 years ago on a practically zero carb diet, but I still felt horrible. I hadn't fixed my health, I just fixed my weight. After loosing the weight, it was very hard to keep it off: those CRAVINGS! Don't go the same road I did: fix your health first, the rest will follow.
