Re: High insulin, hypoglycemia and extreme fatigue
Hey there yoe91, glad to see you on the forums again. This is a long post, just to warn you. I just wanted to touch base with you on a couple topics and see what your thoughts were.
I've been doing a butt-load of research the past few weeks and came up with a few more products to try. As you know, I'm better than I was but I'm still searching for a complete cure.
Have you tried probiotics before? I can't remember if we ever discussed that. I actually got a partial reversal of my symptoms with the Vitamin Shoppe's "ultimate 10" probiotic but it wasn't enough to get me all the way back to normal. This is something I also experienced with blue cheese.
As I mentioned before, I'm in a chronic die-off state now and I became sensitized to anti-microbial foods. When I took the blue cheese and 'utlimate 10' probiotic, it actually created an "anti-die off effect." So in other words, the complete opposite of when I tried the caprylic acid and grapefruit seed extract.
This was very exciting at the time and I stayed on both products separately for about 3 months, but they basically brought me back to where I was sleeping all the time. In other words, my toxin load was lowered from super-high, which has kept me in "somewhat good" die-off, to semi-high, which is when my candida symptoms were most active. *Potentially* it may have continued to decline until being extinguished completely but the process became intolerable. It would have required going back through my year of candida progression, only in reverse, and possibly, over a period of months. So that's why I stopped those two products.
I must clarify here that these two products have been unique thus far in causing this "anti die-off" reaction. Every other type of cheese, plain yogurt, and single-strain probiotics gave me die-off. Blue cheese is unique among cheeses in that it's cultured with mold, not bacteria, so I think it interacted with the candida in a unique way. I think the 'ultimate 10' probiotic may have contained a strain I hadn't tried before, that overpowered all of the other "die-off" causing strains I had tried.
In any case, if you haven't tried probiotics before, or if you've only tried single-strain ones, I would recommend trying out the 'ultimate' ten one. It contains all of the major researched strains so it would be a one-stop shot instead of trying out many different strains individually. The blue cheese you could try but I don't think it would be necessary.
Which brings me to my current situation. I've tried those two products and had partial success, but I realized I would need a much stronger probiotic-type product that would reverse my symptoms much more intensely and quickly. I can't tolerate re-experiencing my old symptoms, I need them to be extinguished rapidly.
After doing a lot of research, I came across a couple products that have that potential. The first one is known as kefir, and it comes in two forms, milk kefir and water kefir. It's basically a fermented drink similar to yogurt, but it contains MANY more strains of beneficial bacteria AND yeast. Yogurt contains only bacteria, no yeast. I've posted a link in one of my earlier posts of all the strains found in milk kefir, it's as high as 50 different strains. You can't find the majority of these in any type of cheese or yogurt.
Water kefir is similar but the specific strains are slightly different.
The third product I found is kombucha. It's a fermented tea which also contains about 50 strains of beneficial bacteria and yeast, also slightly different from both milk and water kefir.
So currently, I'm testing out these three products one at a time. I'll let you know if they help me at all.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to touch base with you on the probiotic approach and see if you've explored it at all. Like I said it's been the only thing (via blue cheese and 'ultiamte 10') that actually reversed my die-off symptoms, so it's the most obvious path for me to explore at the moment.
Hopefully this will give you some new ideas of things to explore. That's all I can really offer as I'm still working to get cured myself.
Take care,
