That sounds great that you have plans to go into the military. I once thought of going in to the military. I wanted to do my part along with my fellow countrymen, but wasn't sure I wanted to kill people in order to be loyal to my countrymen. Give it some serious thought...are you cut out for it? Could you live with yourself? Seriously! because if you have the HEART to feel DEEPLY as you do, there is certainly good reason for you to take that into SERIOUS consideration. An alternative might be The Coast Guard. You don't have to kill to be a hero, but you do have to be there for your daughter to be her hero. Heroes don't do what they want, they do what they have to. You have to be there for your daughter. You would probably be able to spend more time with your daughter, too. Whatever you decide, realize that you are able to feel deeply because you are very conscientous. It's the same as I realized about myself...that not everybody has the courage and the HEART to feel the things that we (you and me) have felt (introspection). There is nothing wrong with getting depressed and not feeling "comfortable" the way things are. Read in the Bible... Genesis chapter 19 how Lot got depressed (his heart was sorely vexed) and God spoke very highly of him because Lot was so intensely conscientous. Whenever you feel like you don't fit in, remember what the world is overflowing with...pain,misery, suffering, lying, cheating, corruption, abuse, hatred, etcetera... and you don't fit in? CONGRATULATIONS! Face it, you're PROFOUND, your heart is sorely vexed.
