Technically you and I should believe about the same, if you are not hyper and we both believe the scripture you posted. Sometimes I think we do and other times I don't.
You state: "And as far as my understanding of what a hyper-calvinist to be, it is one who believes nothing they do matters whatsoever,"
Sometimes you come across sounding this way on subjects. Perhaps you don't mean to.
Spreading the gospel and praying for others make sense if you realize anyone can come to Christ at any moment. You are doing so because you don't know who God has predestined to save and who He hasn't. Matter of fact, you can't even claim assurance for your own self, until God gives you eternal life, because you don't know if he chose you or not.
It's much like the Jehovah's Witness, who go and share the gospel with others, yet thinking only 144,000 will be accepted. Is it a God joke that the one doing all the work of going door to door sharing their gospel, may be the one that is not one of the 144,000? Ahhh not so funny God. I'm sure if asked they could smooth all of this out for me where it sounds better.
Why are we not able to share the gospel the same? If we have the same Spirit, why do we not teach the same?
In my belief...it is God's promise to me that I will be His Bride if I believe, and abide in Him. To endure to the end until the wedding supper of the Lamb, where He will DE CLARE formally that I and many others are the "church-bride" of Christ. Now the rub for you in my belief is that I believe that God help's us in our walk with Him. He woos and loves us to endure to the end. He does not force His bride-to-be to marry Him. I freely come to Him because He first loved me. Or I can choose to not to accept Him and His gospel or to break the engagement that I once had with Him and walk away....choosing darkness and separation instead of the only true One who loved me. I think you know which one I choose.
Now putting all of that aside. In my belief system....I believe you vektek are saved (or technically more correct...in the process of being saved) So in my belief system you and I have no problem in that area. Your belief will not damn you in my way of thinking. However, your belief and ways of looking at God's sovereignty and our free will, may cause you to look at other parts of scripture incorrectly and may lead you to wrong conclusions and thus teach others wrongly. The same thing that you say MST may be doing.
All I'm asking here is.....why don't we all believe the same, if we all have the same Spirit? Actually I have a thought about it all, but I will save that for another time.
