Re: Do the Charismatics have some other level of Spirituality they have attained?
First of all, the belief that God has mercy on some and not all, is not a hyper-calvinist belief, it is the belief of all calvinists.
Romans 9:18
So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.
And calvinists do not believe that God turns away anyone that comes to him.
John 6:37
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
And as far as my understanding of what a hyper-calvinist to be, it is one who believes nothing they do matters whatsoever, that evangelism is unnecessary, there's no need to pray for the lost, there's no need for personal responsibility in our walk with the Lord, etc. I don't believe any of those things, and I sure wouldn't be on here if I did, and I think I've shown throughout the years with my posts, that I believe none of those things.
I believe totally in proclaiming the gospel to all of the world, because it is the power of God, to all who believe.
Romans 1:16
I believe God loved me from the foundation of the world, and caused me to be born again, so that I would have spiritual life and could love him, and choose him in return, which was commanded of me, but something I could not do, or anyone can do, apart from God regenerating a person. I'm not going to look up all the supporting scriptures for that, but they are certainly all in the bible.
I believe in my responsiblity to be a good wife, mother, friend, daughter, etc. everyday of my life and pray unceasingly that God would, by His grace and mercy and work in me, enable me to be all that. I for sure know I can't do anything on my own, and I'm dependent on him for any good works that he would work through me.
Once anyone understands that God is sovereign in everything, and that his will rules above all, everything else that seems to point to man's will being above God's falls into place. We love because God first loved us. We choose Him, because He first chose us.
1 John 4:19
God is not up in heaven, wringing his hands in desperate hope that we would act, so He could act. He does all he pleases on Heaven and earth, and he will accomplish everything he set out to do from the foundation of the world.
What is God's will?
John 6:38-39
38For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
I give all glory to God for my salvation, for everything I have, and trust him fully that he will never let me go and will raise me up to be with him for eternity.
I have great peace in this, and no one can snatch me out of the Father's hand, not even myself.
John 10:29
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"nor anything else in all creation" I am a created being, so even I can't separate myself from the love of God, and that is so wonderful to know because I have no confidence in my flesh. Phil.3:3
"You stated: "Faith is something that God has not willed, is not a winning combination."
That made no sense to me at all."
lol Meant to say Faith IN something that God has not willed, is not a winning combination.
That one little word changes the meaning dramatically. :)
