Like you said, you want to selectively choose those item that you think the Bible should be the authority on.
Actually that is not exactly what i said. I said that in many cases it is impossible for the bible to act as a final authority for us because there are so many differing schools of thought.

So you believe that God stopped talking to His servants for the first time in all of History once the bible was written even though He never said in the bible that He was going to stop talking? If God no longer speaks to us in new revelation, then what does it mean to you to be led by the Holy Spirit? When somebody is called into a specific ministry, led by the voice of the Holy Spirit, is this not a new revelation for the person, or can they look this up in the bible and find the specifics of God's plan for their life?
