Re: when a dental infection has gone too far...
hi there sorry about my delay in replying I haven't been on for ages as Ive not been too well myself recently.
Oh dear you poor thing sounds like you have a few different things going on there and I'm sorry to hear you haven't been treated well in the past.
My advice would be to ask about, as you have done on here, but also ask everyone you know about a nice dentist in the area...there must be one, you'll find them.
I think from what you have said you may have some ongoing infection from your teeth abcesses can come and go but you would really need to see a dentist to confirm that.
With regards to the sores again mention them to your dentist when you go...mucoceles are harmless but you will need to get a diagnosis on what exactly these sores are.
And it also sounds to me like you have an erupting wisdom tooth. Your dentist may have said to you when you were younger that you dont have a wisdom tooth because it hadn't erupted at that point but it sounds like you do have one and it has chosen to erupt now.
People who bite their cheeks can get scar tissue tags or ridges on their cheeks this is completely normal but it is not normal for swelling and burning again make sure you mention to your dentist when you go and maybe try to go when the swelling is present.
I dont think it will be your major salivary gland though that would present as a lump under your jaw or in front of your ear.
When you manage to get to a dentist I would maybe make a list of your problems before you go, do bullet points so you don't miss anything out when speaking to the dentist.
The best of luck to you I really hope you find a dentist who listens to you and gets you out of pain and restores your faith in dentists.
