Apart from my two protracted fasts 30 years ago of 25 and 30 days respectively, I hardly fast at all now except a 12 day fast twice a year to eliminate any air-borne pollutants and possible food contaminants.
My way of life negates any need to undergo any further protracted fasts as the Natural Hygiene lifestyle largely prevents any build-up of toxemia.
I rarely eat breakfast at the traditional time, and wait until lunchtime for my first meal, and where this is usually fruit and fruit only, with my main meal in the evening. I have a starch-based meal and protein-based meal on alternate evenings.

For nigh on 30 years I was strictly vegan/lacto-vegetarian with no meat, but in recent months have included some wild-caught Pacific Salmon for its DHA content and some organic chicken.
I included the fish because of the possibility of a DHA deficiency but will be avoiding any meat in the near future because of a DHA-derived foodstuff from algae.

I have never been B12 deficient despite what meat-eaters will try and tell me, as I know that this is largely an absorption problem by not combining foods properly, and the lack of Intrinsic factor as a result of this improper combining of foods.
Starches do not combine well with protein foods as they produce putrefaction and fermentation leading to deficiencies.

Sorry to hear that you are unable to go to the Desert as yet but the wait will be worth it I am sure.
