Although I can't answer your questions I thought I might draw your attention to a link I found on chromium rich foods. It names no. 1 Brewers yeast and on other hypoglycemia forums I have read great things about brewers yeast.
I find that Iam too senstivie to many supplements and find the natural route easier. I also believe that a good b- complex or foods rich in in b vitamins ( brewers yeast) can really help hypogylcemia. I used to suffer from severe hypoglycemia also. Foods that contain more fat help keep me more stable. Infact it is very rare that I will feel like I am going to faint these days. I find cheese, butter and avocadoes a big help. Balancing with the other food groups is also very important. I remember when I used to read eat more protein so Iused to chow down on nuts at an attack.... this made me soo much worse!
Best Wishes
