Great post. Having trained in martial arts myself years ago, the benefits were great. It literally turned my life around in many ways. I lived in a neighborhood in my teens and was the brunt of many attacks. There was a gang that liked to wild and would pick on lone wolves.
After excellent training it only took one more attack on me to end all attacks. After I smoked a gang leader in front of other members, as well as many other people. I was never bothered again. In fact, after that, I was a person that others would come to if they were being targeted. Things dried up in that regard in my neighborhood. ;-)
I think most people think this training is about fighting. It is more about bringing balance to a situation what ever that may be. It is also about becoming fearless which has many advantages that carry a person throughout life. Fearlessness with an attitude of balance can take a person very far. Safety is but one aspect. There are many other benefits. The attitude took me very far in my profession life as well.
