not necessarily; it depends entirely upon the circumstances whether screaming and making a scene will benefit or not; in a public or semi-public place with enough people around it could be very effective...

That is why you must train yourself to be able to think clearly through these things, assess, and react appropriately under duress.

In other words... if no one was around, screaming and making a scene may not work, so why waste vital energies towards this end.

OTOH, yelling and screaming if necessary during defensive moves has been proven to raise physical and mental abilities by as as much as 25% or more... including one's speed and strength.

So while you may not be screaming to draw attention to yourself at that point, you could use it to greatly enhance your counter attack if warranted.
