What Moritz describes as a "defence" is really I suppose a play on words: what Hygienists would refer to as a "release" or "safety valve".
I think we are reading from the same page and from the same book.

A cold for example is seen as a release of the build up of toxins to the point where they have reached a saturation point determined by the body; Shelton referred to this as one of the laws of life......the "law of accommodation"

"The Law of Vital Accommodation: The response of the vital organism to external stimuli is an instinctive one, based upon a self-preservative instinct which adapts or accommodates itself to whatever influence it cannot destroy or control".

Boils, tumors, cysts, effusions and "growths" of any kind, are a method of "containment" of toxins that are not readily expelled by the body, and where that law of accommodation of toxins reaches a peak of toleration. Just ONE example would be the toleration of the body to the inhalation of tobacco-smoke of sometimes years standing, until that accommodation can no longer be tolerated and where disease becomes manifest.

In this way, whether we refer to cancer or any other chronic disease as being a "defence mechanism" or not, then that would be an accurate portrait of the "law of accommodation". However, the body will eventually erupt into a containment of that toxemia such as a tumor or growth, which may have benign beginnings, but would ultimately become malignant either from viruses or any other means.

The simple solution/prophylactic that Nature & God have endowed, is to conform to the Laws of life and physiology.
If anyone is free from toxemia, and their nutritional status is optimized, disease becomes an unknown and unheard of quantity.
