Re: Salt seems OK (McDougall Newsletter, August 2008)

Yes, I think some people just don't do well without some animal protein. My body clearly gets weaker without it. But, I think plant foods have phytonutrients that are protective against disease too. Many of them haven't been isolated so pills can't replace them.

I am a blood type O and find it curious that all of my allergies are plant foods. It does seem that some people do thrive on vegan diets. McDougall, Esselstyn and Campbell have proven it works for many. And that it reverses heart disease in very sick people. For those on the verge of needing bypasses and stents etc. I think a plant based diet can bring them back from the brink.

I think I can combine the best of both. I think cholesterol can be too low. The cases you mentioned of hemmorhagic strokes and cancer in long term vegans may fall into this group.

I mentioned the link to Dr. Gary Gordon above. He believes in oral chelation because of the heavy load of lead, mercury and other metals we all carry that make us prone to disease. He claims to have great success using edta, zeolite, and many other chelators/nutrients to reverse disease. There is also a Dr's discussion group where people write in with cases they are having trouble with and other doctors give their opinion. To join you need to some how be in health care, but I got a wealth of information there, it is separate from Dr. Gordon's regular aite. Here is a link http://promed.gordonresearch.com/factforum/index.php

The posts on that page are older, but there are several new cases a day being discussed. You have to register, but I think many people are not really doctors, just interested in the research. They will email all new discussions.
