Re: Beautiful Fast, Faster #3 here.
Yo Chappies.
I am also on day 6 of an extended water fast. This is my first fast. It will be water only.
Like the Mighty Sun Tzu I have did my prep over some time: Long term excellent diet, and fit. Bowel, kidney, liver cleanse and regular water. Not overweight. M 55years.
So far no headache, nausea, sinus blockage, almost no tongue whitening and no body aches. No bowel movements, very occasional flatulence. Skin unchanged. Urine occasionally slightly discoloured . I have felt excellent so far and love the heightened mental/physical acuity.
I am monitoring BP: weight: I probably reached my "fat supply" limit on day 4, and listening carefully. I have been most aware of my heart which seems to be enjoying this change to its work pattern. Exercise during fast is only what I feel comfortable with.
Reasons for the fast:
I want to halt my slowly rising blood pressure which is becoming more difficult to control. (Fasting BP is falling.) I want to halt my slowly rising insulin resistance, still well below medical concern levels. Both BP and IR I hope will be helped/corrected during this fast.
I want to change my perception/relationship to food:
This I hope to achieve by using the new mental and bodily awarenesses gained during this fast. I am not convinced all my past eating was only for nutritional reasons and suspect that it was taxing my system. Hence my BP/IR issues.
Three questions:
Has anyone records/experience of Plaque removal during a fast?(I have some plaque. Pauling/Rath/Tower possibly my next step.)
Is using the bodily awareness gained during a fast a reliable and healthy/good "barometer" for future behavior.
Knowing my "fat limit" weight, is it wise to plan on returning to about 1.5 kg above that point after the fast?
A "wondering" out loud. I suspect my body may not be as tightly "connected" to my heart as it may be to other organs. Hence the tendency for abuse to be concentrated there???
A hearty thanks to the regular posters on this site. Your comments and contributions have been valuable. Meaganraose, Mighty SunTzu (Wonderful Book), mouseclick and chrisb to name a few. Forgive me those I have not mentioned. The links have also added to my understanding.
Chrisb I noted in another of your posts that you usually eat one meal a day with the occasional two meal day. I was almost at that point before starting this fast but wasn't confident I was correct.
Do you have an "amount" in mind when thinking/planning your daily meal?
