I went to my dermatologist last week. He changed my diagnosis to Folliculitis Decalvans. I was pretty devasted. I was in his office only about five minutes. I requested accutance. He said he would rather try a retinoid cream - that he has had "some modest success with", and I was on my way out the door. I started looking for a dermatologist that knew more about this disease. I found one two hours away that specializes in scalp diseases. I saw her today. She prescribed me accutane, 40mG. Probably for six to eight months. She said this works for all but a very small percentage of her patients with FD. She said most people stay in remission when they go off. I'm praying this works. I wish I had better insurance - that stuff is expensive!
What were the side effects you had when you were on the higher accutane doseage?
