I've never had sex on the first date, nor do I think I could. I'm hard wired by my Ma. She drove it into me that if a man has that level of affection for you upon meeting you, make sure it's really affection and not just animal lust. Many dates in, preferably a few weeks, and you're good to go. A guy that takes off before that comfortability level has been reached was only interested in what was in your pants and not between your ears. My Ma was pretty smart.

Before she died, she also asked me never to smoke cigarettes, do cocaine or acid - and I won't. When you have a really good parent (one, that is) that describes things to you in very realistic terms - it's much easier to buy what their saying and appropriate it to you life.

I've had some excellent lovers as a result, sure some still turned out to be not quite worth it for a long-term partner, but I felt I had some good guidelines to go with. I've also enjoyed occasional recreational use of more benevolent natural chemicals. It was all pretty good advice. Tweet
