The Asians eat mostly fermented soy, not the forms of soy found in most of our foods.  In fact, evidence suggests that Asians did not begin to consume soy until after the discovered how to ferment it and until then it was used only as a nitrogen fixer for the soil.  Even so, East Asians are indeed the worlds largest consumers of soy products.  They also have the highest rate of stomach/intestinal cancer than any other.

Like I said, I regard fermented soy products such as miso, tempeh, natto and fermented soy sauce as the safest (or least harmful) forms of soy - but I try to avoid it altogether since soy (and canola) are two of the crops which have the highest percentage of Roundup ready gmo seeds used.

I prefer my produce without the "health benefits" of a bit of added herbicide.  I'm not particularly fond of pesticides either.  Or any other chemical additives.
