Okay, my wife went to an actual GI yesterday, and I went with her. He felt her stomach area for hard masses and didn't find any, checked for impaction with a finger and made sure she wasn't bleeding and used a clear plastic device to actually look into the rectum. (he noted that she has internal hemorrhoids from straining)

He RX'd her NuLytely which is basically the same as Miralax and wants her to take the equivalent of three doses at once for three nights in a row. And then if nothing happens, for her to come back to see him.

I'm pretty picky about health care practitioners, but this guy seemed reasonably competent and knowledgeable (much better than the last)

What are y'alls thoughts on PEG by the way? I've heard everything from "it's just a stool softener" to "it's poison" Tweet
