Re: Chronic health issue
Thank you all for your thoughtful responses :)
I just want to make it clear that my goal to recovery from this ailment is not an attempt to return to my previous lifestyle. I also want to make it clear that the night I did that binge drinking was the most I've ever drank ever, it was not a routine thing for me to drink hard liquor.
While I don't think alcohol is solely the cause of my ailment, I do think it opened the door for more problems. As someone suggested, it must have weakened my immune system which opened the door to possible parasites/yeast overgrowths.
I totally understand where people are coming from when they say I should never drink again for the rest of my life, obviously if I have a problem with being addicted/drinking too much, but I am not an alcoholic. I think one positive thing about this is that it happened before I could actually become an alcoholic. I can go without drinking for any length of time without any problems at all.
I was only really "addicted" to the whole "medieval pub scene", which doesn't necessarily always involve alcoholism.
I'm going to try some of the cleanses and buy the
parasite eradicating remedies when I get the money.
I do agree with fledgling about changing. I do feel like a different person but it's more like there's a "screen" between feeling well and feeling bad. When I say I feel like a different person, I mean my state of mind has changed. I've gone from healthy, to ill, and the personality I harbored during health has taken a hit. If I look deep enough, "I" am still there, just burdened by an illness.
I also want to clarify that I wasn't binge drinking like this for years or anything, it was a couple days of hard liquor. Before that it was just a few months of frequent wine drinking. Before I was 21, I rarely drank. If I drank before I was 21, it was beer on the holidays.
I will say that another aspect could have been aspartame. I used to be 320 when I was 13 and lost the weight as I got older and came off the respidol as well as the paxil. I started drinking diet coke since it had no calories and seemed too good to be true. I drank 1-2 diet cokes a day for 5-6 years. When I would go out to restaurants I would order iced tea, fine enough, but I would pour 2 packets of sweet n low into each glass and have about 4-5 glasses, which equaled 8-10 packets of sweet n low along with my daily diet coke intake.
When I would go to the movies I would buy those big 2 liter soda gulp drinks, drink the whole 2 liters during the movie, have it refilled before I left, then drink it all again. Needless to say, since this started I've cut out all
Aspartame from my diet. It has been hard, but I've gotten off the diet coke and have replaced it with green tea. Something about the coldness of the can, and the fresh sharp tangly tingle of that soda still has me wanting it.
I also want to add that lately I've been getting bubbly saliva like foamy saliva, especially after burping, it's like a lot of gas. The burping comes up in deep gurgling bubbly sounds that are sometimes audible for all to hear. I feel the pressure build up before it happens and can tell when it's about to happen before I even feel/hear the burp.
I have strong food cravings. Almost insanely ravenous cravings for bread/cheese/fermented foods. I have an aversion to vegetables and fruits, not that I don't like them, just a strange aversion, can't explain it. I like garlic and have been taking it since this started. I've been trying very hard to avoid yeast/breads/dairy and eat more meat. I also have a craving for chocolate sometimes and sweets.
My current regiment of meds/herbs (keep in mind I no longer have health insurance, so the anti-biotics and anti-fungals are temproary): 100 mg of Diflucan once a day (anti-fungal), 9th day on it (it's a 15 day treatment), 500 mg of Cefadroxil twice a day (10 day treatment, I'm on the 7th day). 400 mg of Betaine HCL (I heard it helps with burping). Candidase enzymes (the high protease kind with cellulase from enzymedica). Chinese herbal remedy that contains: Radix gentianae, radix bupleuri, rhizoma alismatis, radix rehmanniae, radix scutellariae, fructus gardeniae, semen plantaginis, radix angelicae sinensis, and radix glycyrrhizae. There are chinese words for each one written in english next to those but I thought I'd read off the plant names. I've also been taking St Johns wort recently to help with my severe
Depression due to this problem.
It seems to be better in the morning, and then gets worse as the day goes on. The burping, gas, thrush, etc. is not what bothers me the most. It's the constant throat tickle that begins right when I get out of bed and stays all day that bothers me.
