Re: A real explanation from a professional

You are free to believe whatever you want. I am merely trying to tell you the truth about those trails you see in the sky. I'm not going to debate your anti-government beliefs, you are free to hate the government if you wish.

Is this the story you are referring to at the beginning of your post?

This story about a mechanic who claims to have worked on airplanes equipped with sprayers, piping, and chemicals; it is nothing more than an work of fiction that has grown into an urban legend thanks to the internet. It's been circulating around the web for years in the form of a "chain letter". I personally received that email about 4 or 5 years ago.
Right from the beginning, there are factual errors that any professional can spot, including the heirarchy of aviation mechanics they speak of. Most AMT's (aviation maintenance technicians) work on many different components of an airplane, not just one. Avionics are somewhat an exception, as is heavy engine maintenance, however, basic avionics, and normal engine maintenance is done by the same AMT's who work on the lavs, hydraulics, flight controls, interior components, etc.

I too have seen what looks like contrails coming from the ground, but it is in fact an optical illusion. When things are far away, their altitude is difficult to judge. Contrails that are high in the air may appear to start from a lower altitude or even the ground.
Here is an example of how our eyes can play tricks on us. These two airplanes appear to be very close to each other, however, they were actually at least 1000 feet apart. If they were any closer, ATC's computers would have issued a proximity alert, as would the airplane's TCAS (traffic collision avoidance system) and the pilots would have had to file a report.

As I said before, believe what you wish, but if you want to know the truth, I suggest you ask an expert and not someone who is just spreading fear and lies.
