See your friend as the best they can be

"Now, how do you communicate this to the person who is sad/upset etc without saying "Im sorry" and things like that or just blowing it off like "oh, everything will be just fine, just behappy" which is too different from their emotional state of mind and wont work. It would make you seem like you dont care at all."
This is how I would do it.
I would write a BOPA (Book of positive aspects) on my friend. I would remember and recall every positive memory and experience I had with them, and add to it all the amazing achievements I know they have experienced with others and in various situations... remember all the times they were joyous, appreciative, passionate etc. I'd make a long list and make that my dominant vibration about them.
Then I'd go to my friend and say, "Hey, I can't find this place inside me that resonates with your sadness, because whenever I think of you, I think about how amazing you really are. I remember the REAL you!! I KNOW who YOU are!! And you are truly wonderful. And I KNOW whatever you are feeling and going through right now is TEMPORARY and before long you will return to being the joy filled, fabulous person that is the real you. If you like, we could work on finder some better feeling thoughts so you can get back to who you really are quicker. Want to try? This could be fun :-) ... "
That way, you offer love and compassion AND uplift them.
