Re: The blasto have won before I've even started......

Hi,

Thanks for support - I'm so glad someone else out there has a similiar experience, makes me feel much better and more hopeful! I was diagnosed when I found by chance an integrated medical centre (I'm in Ireland), the person I went to see has a special interest in parasite infections, particularly blasto, and after going through all my symptoms recommended a stool test. There is nowhere she said it can be done in this country and she sends them to Parascope in Leeds University Hospital in UK, which are one of the best apparently. You have to send at least 3 samples taken on different days and they are preserved in a solution. Mine came back "moderate" and blasto were found in two of the samples. I was negative for bacterial pathogens/giarda and cryptospiridium and there were also a lot of undigested vegetable fibres (you do a separate sample for digestive analysis). I had never thought of parasites as a problem before and was very taken aback by the whole thing, but glad to be finally diagnosed scientifically with something.

Jean has approx 50 patients on her books with blasto and while managing to greatly improve symptoms admits no one has been fully cured. She is very interested in the drugs that originate (I think) from Austrailia but when one of her patients (who was her worst case) tried to get them they were stopped by Customs as they are not medically licensed in this country. She did mention Flagyl and has used it with patients, but says it can make some people worse - she says she doesnt recommend it as first choice, prefers the person to build up their immune system first, but I do think she's open to it. I'm certainly open to trying anything.

Funny what you say about protein - I also had blood analysis done at this clinic, which showed very high levels of protein in my blood - even though not eating fish or meat I should be lower than normal. This was put down to proteins not being digested properly and leaky gut syndrome - I'm now taking betaine hcl and digestive enzymes and glutamine, and having further blood testing as I also have low levels of blood platelets which inhibits healing in the body. It will also test for B12, folic acid and iron levels. I also have low oxygen levels in blood which can cause fatigue. She's put me on Co Q 10 and L Carnithine and wants me to start on castor oil packs. To be honest, I'm very pleased to have found this place, as I've wasted so much money going to people who did nothing for me. Jean is also a very warm and open person and this helps, a lot of people have very closed minds and are not particularly sympathetic or lose interest in you if you dont make progress - she is not the type of person to give up on a patient.

Yes, I'd say my adrenal glands are completely exhausted and will check out your post on this. Do you have blasto also, or other parasites? How are you feeling now on your regime? I'm going to try some of the things you said, thanks for the advice - between this site and my practitioner I have to make some progress!!

I have read up on the Bad Bugs site, the message from that seems to be that nothing but the drugs work for a lot of people, which is a bit depressing if you cant get hold of them. Are you able to get those drugs where you are - would you like to try them?

Thanks again for help.
