Day 18

Yeah... I made it

OK, so yesterday was just about the worst day I've ever had with fasting. I was angry, cranky, and mean. And I was out of my mind... took me three tries to correctly fill out a check at the store. It didn't magically go away this morning or anything, but I feel more in control of things. I got a little reward for keeping it together when I got dressed this morning... and my pants fell down to my hips and pooled around my ankles. I actually had to go get a belt. I also realized that the last two days may have been especially bad because I had gone from drinking the MC lemonade (BLECH!) to drinking only clear juices. Prior to that, I drank the heartier, smoothie-style juices. You wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it does for me. For those who are curious, I don't use a home juicer. I realize that some may now view me as the anti-Christ, but I really just can't afford to puree away $15 worth of organic fruits and veggies every day, so I find that Naked juices (yes, they're really called that!) are a nice alternative, pasteurized or not. So anyway, drank half of a smoothie last night and that REALLY helped with the self-control.

Having that little dialogue in my head again, thinking that 21 days should be perfectly sufficient and then I can do a partial fast for the last week. I really wish I'd shut up.

Oh, yeah. Has anyone done the "fasting every other day" diet? I used to do it in high school, and assumed that that was what destroyed my metabolism as an adult. However, the feasting/fasting cycle is supposed to actually be good for your metabolism, and I've read some research recently suggesting that fasting every other day may be very good for you and reduce your risk of cancer. What's more, I did do it all through high school... and it worked. I'm thinking about going back to it once I'm done with this.
