I don't want to just fade away from writing in this Morning Walk blog, so I'm checking in.
Since I returned to work after a long leave of absence, I have not walked as much as I was walking prior to returning to work. I guess that makes logical sense now that I'm sitting here writing it down, but I can tell you this: it doesn't feel right to me. The walking was helping me in so many ways. I want to have the time and energy to continue walking. With the 50+ hours I work at this job, plus the 80+ minute daily back-and-forth commuting time, plus the 3 hours x 6 days a week I spend keeping my alternative health studio afloat, walking is something that is not easy to keep integrated into the flow of my day's activities.
I refuse to give up on it though.
The last time I walked for my minimum goal of 1/2 hour was last Sunday. My son and his friends were playing soccer at a park near the foothills on the West edge of town. I parked at the end of the park farthest from where they were playing and walked the long way around the perimeter of the park. Actually a bit longer than 1/2 hour.
Something interesting happened at the park that day, and it made me think of Ms. Deradune, here on the CureZone blogs, actually. As I was finishing my walk, and heading toward a nice comfy-looking log to sit down on and watch the soccer players, a large black SUV with all visible windows tinted dark grey entered the alley behind the park. It is a long alley, equivalent to about 3 long city blocks or 4. The SUV was driving slowly and there was a speaker mounted on the passenger side. Someone was saying, and repeating the following: "9/11 was an inside job." Over and over.
People in the park ignored the SUV and what they were announcing, but I found it
somehow ironic. I smiled and waved. Don't know if they waved back, due to the aforementioned tinted windows.
Anyway, I've had a good Mother's Day, and feel motivated to get going with my walking again.
There are always 24 hours in a day, and only 7 or 8 need to be spent sleeping. There can therefore always be at least 1/2 hour apportioned for walking. It's just got to be possible.
