Hotel by the Creek
across town and back in spring blossoming splendor
Date: 4/14/2006 12:24:11 PM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 2493 times After much procrastination over many months, I decided today to go to a weekly meeting of some people in a nutrition-focused group who had long ago invited me to join them. I drove to the hotel where they meet on Fridays, went to the restaurant on the creek, their meeting place, and they weren't there. I thought perhaps I was early, but it was the exact time they usually start. No answer when I called the only group member I had contact information for.
I decided to do the buffet breakfast anyway. It was nice, with lots of fruit choices, oatmeal, yogurt, and the usual burnt offerings (meats & eggs). I stuck with the fruits and yogurt, and that was fine. Had some nice herb tea too.
The group people never did show up, but I enjoyed my nice breakfast by the creek. I saw lots of people in the nylon sporty clothes jog out the door onto the trail, and decided to go walking on that trail after my meal.
It was a neat walk. I live in this town with this scenic creek and perfect trail built by the creek and never really venture there. It does bring back memories, of the early days of romance, in another lifetime (it seems, but not really). Innocent romance, mind you, not the rough and tumble kind like they show on the TV soap operas.
I could say more on that topic but won't.
So I walked. Cyclists and fast runners whizzed by me. Walking slowly though one can observe more, take in more. The sounds of all the different birds, the flowing of the creek, the hotel's waterfalls, sounding further and further in the distance as I proceeded.
I walked for almost an hour, a major increase in time. My legs did not feel as light as they usually do. I kept walking though.
I have an appointment with my bioenergetic practitioner today. I always enjoy seeing him. He is an honest and heart-centered man. His wife is usually there at the office too. It is a real gift to get a chance to talk with her.
During the walk I thought about my day, envisioning my plan for the day, the bionergetic appointment, and the raw foods potluck in the evening. Those are always interesting for me to attend, but the social scene can get uncomfortable. Maybe deep inside there is a key to understand why, but I just haven't gotten to that understanding yet. I keep going, as I want to learn more about preparing raw food recipes at home. These Boulder raw foods events are a magnificent learning field.
So, after my walk on the creek (I walked all the way across town and back, via the creek!) I drove home, and am playing on the internet until it's time to go to my aforementioned appointment.
These walks are good for me. Need to find people to walk with though.
That's a work in progress.
Enjoy your weekend!
