January 24, 2010

It was lovely getting back to work, as I had a productive weekend, and now I was ready to apply myself at my job as well.

When I was eating my lunch, I realized how firm my lentils were as well as how green then were as well. I thought it was odd, when I realized that I must have grabbed the bag of green split peas instead of the bag of lentils. So my mushroom onion barley and lentil stew is really barley and split pea stew! LOL, well it tastes good anyway.

I definitely have to say that eating veggies really give me a brighter outlook on things. Most of all, I really enjoy planning my little meals, and preparing them. I think I really love the new relationship I had with food. I believe that it is much much healthier. I really can't imagine going back to eating junk food or fast food. After work, I hit the grocery store to see what veggies are on sale. I found 1 bags of organic broccoli, cauliflower and carrots,($1.29) and 2 bags of organic broccoli carrot and snow pea pods ($1.25 a piece) that had been marked down. I found some grilling veggies (a tray of yellow squash, zucchini, red onion, mushrooms, green and red pepper.) as well ($2.49). I found a tray of veggies garden primavera, which I also picked up really cheap ($1.49) I was checking out the stuff, when another woman came up. She was looking like I was at the veggies. She said that the veggie bags were a good price. I told her I have it down to a science on how I buy my veggies. I told her that I check the veggies every couple days, as I am always eating them, so when they get marked down, I usually buy them. She asked me if I was a vegetarian. I told her no, but I did eat a lot of veggies with my fish and chicken. I told her I just really like my fresh veggies, and this is a way I can afford to eat healthy, as I eat them so quickly. I picked up some grapes as they were only 0.99 a pound.

I also found out that asparagus was on sale $2.48 a pound, so I got me a bunch of it, as I had been waiting for it go on sale so I could eat some.

I found two trays of Salmon ($2.68 and $3.91) and really nice slice of Yellowfin Tuna ($4.49). I haven't have Yellowfin Tuna in a while, so I know that I will make it for dinner tonight with the garden primavera. My grocery bill was only about $30.00 (about $25.00 of that was fresh food and fish) as I picked up a couple other things like spices, as I am using so many of them on my veggies. I really need to stock on up some of them as I used them on veggies, soups and stews.

When I was done preparing for my dinner, (Yellowfin Tuna with garden primavera. I added some veggies like a couple of florets of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and 3 spears of asparagus to the bunch that was to be steamed) I called my father. It is really great that I was able to talk to him over the weekend. My Papa even gave me my step mother's new cell phone number (which is through Verizon, like mine is) so that I can call more and it won't cost me anything to do so. I am very excited about this. I was a little disappointed that when I called, I had to leave a message. But about half and hour later, as I was eating my dinner, my Dad called. He said that they were out of the house visiting my sister, Brooke. It was my niece's 3rd birthday and they were out visiting my sister and my niece. My Dad told me that he was sorry that I had to wait to talk to him. I told him, I am just happy that he called me back. We talked about 20 minutes about things. The weather, being stuck in the house during the snowy season, dinner, etc. It was about 8:00 so he let me go, so I could finish my dinner. I told him that I loved him so very much. He told me that he loved several times, and that we would talk again. So when I got off the phone, I was so much happier then I had been in the last 8 months of my life. I was talking to my Papa again!

I picked at my fish and the rest of my veggies, as I was feeling pretty much satisfied with what I ate. I cleaned up my dinner mess, and did a couple dishes. After wards I started working on the crocheted cowl that I started on Sunday night. It is almost done. I even took it with me to work so I could work on it after I ate my lunch. I have only about 5 more rows on it and it is done. I really don't know if I am going to like it or not, but at least I finished something that I started.

My evening as I got ready for bed was very relaxing as well. I remembered to put my TV on sleep that when off in two hours, but I don't remember what time I fell asleep. All I do know is that I was feeling really tired and I was happy to be relaxing in bed. Of course, both of my kitties were on the bed with me, as I relaxed. I talked to God a bit and thanked Him for all the wonderful things that happening to me. Especially being able to talk to my Dad again. That has really bought a lot of happiness in my life. Nothing major has been happening, but a lot of small important things like talking to my Papa, saving a bit of money as well as buying good fresh veggies.
