January 20, 2010

I woke up after a lovely night. I slept well, except when Mekong decided to walk with her bony paws onto my chest. Plus I woke up after she settled and laid down on my side, by sticking her little nose in my ear and snuffling. I almost laughed at her. She has done this more then once in the last 5 or 6 days since she has been sleeping with me again. I wonder if she is just trying to keep her nose warm or she is just curious. I found myself yawning last night and I wasn't pay attention until her face was so close to mine. She was check out my open mouth! LOL She is a silly goose.

Well, I felt good other then it was very cold, and that my right and left arm, shoulder and upper back hurt. I guess that would teach me to exercise a bit more then I have been. I knew that I was going to be sore, but I didn't think I was going to feel that sore. I probably won't be playing the Wii for a day or two, in order to rest my muscles.

I feel pretty good at the moment. I did make a bit of juice with the veggies that I had left (about 7 ounces), but I did drink a bit of water as well separately. I am kind of playing it by ear. I really want to incorporate solid food into my diet again. I will just see how the end of the leads me. I feel really good about where I am at, at the moment. I feel mentally healthy, emotionally healthy (as I am working out some kinks regarding my break-up with Phil, dealing with talking to my father again, etc but otherwise doing great), spiritually healthy (as my I am slowly renewing my relationship with God) as well as I feel physically healthy too!

All successful people have a goal. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do. ~ Norman Vincent Peale

I realized today that I haven't set any goals for this year yet. I think I need to get crackin on it. I probably will work on setting a couple this weekend, as I will have more time, but depending if I am still water/juice fasting and my energy remains constant for me to concentrate on something as setting goals.

I went to the grocery store after work, to pick up some veggies for juice or what not. How glorious it was to see all the veggies. They had a sale on fresh pineapple ($1.00!), so I bought two of them, since I loved it so much over the Christmas holiday. As looked at the veggies and picked up a couple, I decided to end my fast. I found a nice tray selection of sliced green pepper, red peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, yellow squash and red onion, which was suppose to be used for grilling, but I decided when I got home I would cut them up a bit more and steam them, with a little bit of added carrots, broccoli and cauliflower (two bags which I picked up for just $4.00). I also bought a frozen 20 ring of shrimp, which once I am ready, that I can used a couple for salads or even soups once in a while. I probably should have bought a bag, instead of a ring, but I wasn't really thinking that they are all frozen together and I have to defrost all of them to separate them. LOL Silly me. I bought a pound of fingerling potatoes, as I thought they might be healthier then the regular white potato. I also got a bag of Granny Smith apples that I will eat and juice, as it will help me with my gall bladder issue. I will have to do some research on that. I thought they would be able to be worked into soups easier as well. I also bought some low sodium chicken broth in a plastic container, not a can. I never realized how picky I have become about what I am willing to put in my body now. As I walked down the other aisle, I realized that almost at every turn, I would find things filled with horrible things. I guess that is one reason why I only do my shopping in the outer aisles: The fresh produce, meat and cheese aisle. Sometime I need things like broth or beans and/or rice, so I venture out into the other aisles

When I got home, I made a lentil, barley mushroom with onion soup/stew. I didn't judge the right amount of water for soup, so the lentils and barley make it look more like stew. I didn't eat it, but I made it for tomorrow and such. For dinner, I cut up the green pepper, red peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, yellow squash, red onion, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. It wasn't much as it most of it was on a tray set up for grilling. I would say that it made up to 2 cups. I have to say when I sat down and eat it slowly, I was in heaven. It was so lovely tasting veggies again. I know it sounds really odd, but it was a wonderful treat to taste such delicious food. The only thing that was added was seasonings of Garlic and herbs. It was a lovely delicious treat for me. I was watching a great movie “Imperium: Augustus. I love anything regarding Rome, Romans, and Caesars. You can say that I was very happy at the moment, as I was enjoying something I really like, as well as having a delicious, yet healthy meal. It was simple yet very rich to me. By the way of rich, I mean that it was filled with so much more, then what the eye could really see. I was curled up in a blanket, with my little bowl of steamed veggies, Mekong curled up next to the heater while I watched my movie. Very homey.

I ate slowly and savored every delicious bite. I didn't eat until I was full. There was no need. I was satisfied with what little I had. It is amazing that after years of bad eating, that I could be satisfied with so little and with veggies. It just amazes me. I know from the past, if I ate Wendy's or Taco Bell, I was always hungry an hour later. I realize now that is because my body was not satisfied with what it ate, and it was yearning for good, good food, like veggies.

I watched most of the movie, but I was getting colder, so I decide to move the DVD back to the bedroom and get in bed. It was still snowing when I got in bed. It had been snowing most of the day. Mekong was missing from my room, while I was falling asleep in bed. I shook it off in order to go to the bathroom and then check up on her. Of course, when I was in the bathroom, she came in crying at me. When I was done, I just carried her back into my room. That was a mistake to do! LOL She wouldn't settle down, and keep her fuzzy body out of my face. Finally I got her settle down, where I could see my TV a little bit better. Once when the movie was over, I shut it off and settled down to go to bed. It was lovely having Mekong snuggling with me, while she was purring. She is such a lovely kitty. I am very thankful for her.

I talked to God for a bit, and told Him I was very thankful for so much: my home, my cats, my job, my car, my parents, my friends and that I am healthy.

I have now noticed that I have a couple blemishes showing up on my back. There are not many, but I can see that my skin on my back was starting to detox a bit.
