Same situation here..I am a 45 year old female and was a peak fitness until Nov. 3, 2016, when I went on a hiking trip in Costa Rica.
I felt like I had a mild chest cold before departing for the trip- but thought that I could muscle through it. ( I was a previous cyclist, putting in 70-90 miles a week on my bike, took pilates classes 3 times per week and was extremely active.).
I became very, very sick within two days of arriving in Costa Rica. It felt like I had the flu. I could not walk up small hills, developed numbness and pain in both arms and legs. I left the trip and sought immediate medical treatment back in the US.
It is 9 months later, and I still feel like I have the flu and cannot perform cardio exercise without immediately fatigue. I cannot sleep --Even taking ambien at night and I still wake up every four hours. Stressful situations make my arms and thighs burn (?)
I have had every possible blood test performed-- and tested negative for everything- west nile, Zikki, rabies, lupus,
Rheumatoid Arthritis , swine flu. Nothing is wrong with my blood work.
I went to a general practitioner, neurologist and rheumotolgist. I was
diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and told that it was a chronic condition that could be medicated but not cured (?) Has anyone else had this happen ? I can trace the beginning of this to a specific date. WTH ? Thank you in advance.
