Okay I have tried a few cold showers & they definitnely are good against depression. However, to avoid shocking my adrenals I just do one body part at a time. You might be surprised how quickly that body part heats up & is not bothered at all by the cold - within seconds. You put the right foot in and you shake it all about (because of the cold!)..you put the left foot in...etc. etc. working your way up. One way that I read is to alternate between hot water and cold water (maybe half a minute for each) for something like 3-4 times but always end the shower with cold water. Then there is another way mentioned at Earthclinic (http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/showers_questions.html#Question_2028) that says shower in cold water only until body temperature rises (takes about 3 minutes). How do you respond when the cold water hits? I usually jump around in the shower cabin. The cold water usually forces me to move around, and if i´d be alone id run a few hundred feet outside just to warm up and dry off in the air (i may daydream). Hi Chris, I enjoy using oils on my hair although I usually just oil my hair and put on of those cheap clear shower caps which are disposal on for half the day so it can soak in and then wash it out at some point. I have read or listened to testimony of people who have allowed their own hair oils to ”do their thing” and tried it one week. I was taking the cold showers for about a week. It was great. I loved how I felt after the shower and I would have lots of energy all day. The last one that week was different. Considder yourself lucky. I used to love the hot water. I live in a building where the hot water is off and on, and I would never take a shower unless it was anything but steaming hot. Now the thought of that turns me off. It gives you a good energy boost...That lasts!! Although in the winter I do like to start off warm (not hot) then go cold. I have been taking a hot shower just long enough to soap up and then rinsing and standing in 100% cold water only shower for 3 to 5 minutes, making sure the icy water hits every part of my body for a good 30 seconds or so. At 50, my body feels like it is not only getting firm and hard, but stronger, a lot stronger. I do a great deal for my health and understand that all these things have a synergistic action, but I am sold on the cold shower\bath. Once the weather warms I will transition to cold shower only and try never to use hot water again except in the case of a therapeutic bath.

Hi chiron, It was years ago and my friend tried different mixes and amounts of all of the three: Epsom Salt and Baking soda and Hydrogen Peroxide! He had Toxic Farm chemicals in his body which were causing him problems! Hi hopinso, A few years ago my mother-in-law did just a foot soak with the help of my wife for one month, and did it everyday and got her feet and legs working again after she had a Heart attack and could not use her feet and legs for the swelling and pain that was in them! If you are physically able to do a full body soak in a tub or a hot tub for those with access to one, then the time limit will depend on how strong you are!
