Re: Doctors Fail to Recognize Anti-Depressants Dangers

Bless your heart Zoe.  Not once but twice I have gone through the same thing.  Ten years ago I was prescribed medication that the doctor insisted I needed.  I thought I was going to die and although I called every day he insisted that I must take it.  I went as far as going into his office and almost collapsing on his desk so he could see what I looked like, to no avail.  I stopped taking the medication and found another doctor.

The second time a doctor told me that I was depressed.  I accepted this diagnosis without question and took the medication.  The instructions said that I might feel discomfort but that it would lessen,.  So when I felt sick, I just ignored it trusting the doctor and the instructions.  By the third day I seriously thought I was going to die.  I called the office and told them my symptoms and they told me to discontinue the pills immediately.

Why are we so submissive to our doctors?  We know our bodies.  When something is wrong we need to act upon it, not submit to the doctor's authority.  We need to learn how to say no.  And this goes for our doctors too.

Hugs,

Luella
