Big Difference in High Triglycerides and Overall Cholesterol

High Triglycerides are not included in the overall cholesterol count. 287 is a little high, according to medical standards, but that is not your main problem. Your BIG problem is the Triglyceride level. That level is dangerous. It is usually caused by high sugar/starch intake and lack of exercise. Go on a low carb, high protein with many green vegetables diet and move around a little more. L-Carnitine is a supplement that sometimes helps. A cholesterol drug is for the cholesterol, LDL, HDL levels, and in itself has lots of side effects.

Keep a check on your Sugar levels and blood pressure. Many times high triglycerides, high blood Sugar and high blood pressure are related and are known as Syndrome X or metabolic syndrome. My triglycerides were 800 when I started on the above diet, and now are just a little over 200 - still high, but getting there.
