I saw your story on this site and I have a very similar story! I'm only 26 and I was diagnoised with CRPS/RSDS in January or so of 2007 which resulted from a metal T-post pounder falling off a shelf in a store onto the top of my foot back on 8/2/06. I have had nothing but pain and am allergic to almost all of the medications that are suppose to help. It started with a crushed foot that resulted in the RSDS in my foot but now I have pain up to my knee and rapidly heading towards my hip. I have a been on crutches for 10 months now and everything is wasting away. I doubt if the pain went away if I would even be able to walk on it. I have horrible pain and the only thing that I am on for it is Lorazepam for my nerves, Temazepam for sleeping, and Percocet and extended release morphine. None of them fully helps, on most days I have to just suck it up and deal with the pain. It goes up into my back and hurts. I've tried TENS units but they don't seem to help or they irritate the pain further, I've tried pool therapy but the warmer water irritates it as well but too cool of water will set it off as well. I've tried several different kinds of pill but again allergic to them and it causes a lot of pain when I go to dental procedures and such. But the one thing that I've found that works well is ACUPUNCTURE. Depending on the time of day (because my pain is always worst be early afternoon to ALL through the night!) I get anywhere from 2-4 days almost total relief, enough relief to where the pain killers can do the rest. Unfortunately I can't go more then once a week otherwise I think that I would be virtually pain free if I could go at the beginning of the week and the end. I don't know about you but I'm incredibly NEEDLEPHOBIC but I deal with it and the slight pain from the needles pricking for the relief. Acupuncture helps me with the swelling and pain which is great. I get a lot of pain in my foot, arch, achilles tendon/ankle, knee, hip, and back and this seems to help all of it. I just wanted to throw that out there as a suggestion because I hate being on all these pills, especially when no one can tell me the long term affects. They want to give me a shot in my leg/foot that will permanently deaded from the point of the shot down and I will never regain feeling again, but not sure if I'm ready for that yet when the acupuncture seems to be doing ok. Just wanted to throw that out to you...you're the first person I've ever seen as young as me with RSDS so it was nice to help you.
