Happily, I have informed myself well/completely enough to make correct decisions about my own body (and to assist those I am helping). This required hundreds of hours of research, as my information is being used by an elderly woman who is on several different heart medications, blood Sugar meds, bp meds, diuretics and suffers dreadfully from diabetic neuropathy; another (my mother) is in the midst of benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome and is currently taking fluoridated antidepressants as well as other psychotropic meds. Also, there are two others with assorted pharmaceutical blends and other physical ailments. I HAD to be far more cautious, concerned & researched than I ever would have been for myself in regards to Iodine supplementation...and I started my research before there was an Iodine forum of ANY kind on CZ.

(I am not trying to be egoic -above-; I know that you "know" me, and I want you to see how intense my research has been).

At the root of these people's issues (and some of mine/my husbands) is more than a simple lack of iodine; it is the presence & effect of poisons stored throughout the body & brain (fluoride, bromide, chloride, & heavy metals). I need a treatment that is proven to BOTH replenish the body's need for Iodine AND remove the poisons from our bodies.

There is a need for both iodine and Iodide to address the various diseases in the human body.

I also require a supplement that contains ZERO known poison. Although some believe that "natural" poisons (arsenic/fluoride, etc) are not harmful, I totally disagree (and there is truly no longer a way to determine what is 'natural. anyway). People have died and will continue to die from all variety of "natural" poisons. Our bodies are bombarded with 'unnatural' poisons daily, no matter how hard we try to keep them from us; the willful addition of a 'natural' food that contains a 'natural' poison is counterproductive to the body having all the energy it needs to cleanse & heal itself. To utilize a food/supplement that contains any known level of poison for healing, is not something I will ever do (nor will I advise others to do so).

According to your numbers, I was incorrect about the quantity of iodine one can ingest from kelp. I offer my sincere apology (especially for the use of the word "insane").

I have a 500ml bottle (approximately 16 ounces/2 cups) of Lugol's Solution (cost $28.00) that yields 168 mgs of iodine/iodine in only 26.88 drops (with absolutely no known poisons, and it's a blend of iodine/iodide that has been utilized successfully for well over a century). 26.88 drops is not even a "dropperful". That's $1.75 for one ounce (1/8 of a cup/2 tablespoons).

Lol, I just measured (all very approximate, of course): 20 droppersful = 1 tablespoon. 40 droppersful = 2 tablespoons. 30 drops = 1 dropperful 40 droppersful X 30 drops = 1200 drops. 6.25mg per drop x 1200 drops = 7500mg. So my Lugol's yields 7500 mg of iodine/iodide for $1.75 -- compared to your kelp which yields 168 mg of iodine for $3.00+.

Lugol's Solution: no arsenic or other chemical poisons known; contains both iodine/iodide; has been utilized for more than century by holistic and allopathic healers; has been utilized recently by Flechas, Brownstein and other MD members of The Iodine Group with 4,000-6,000 people and clinical results & research are readily available, as well as even more complete research by Dr. Abraham; pushes out/removes poison halogens and toxic metals effectively while replenishing a body that's depleted in iodine; can be used topically to treat all variety of skin growths & tumors; can currently still be purchased for FAR less than kelp, and can always be made for even less than that.
