Which Iodine source is the best?

Seaweed is the best source because it is natural and contains all the sugars and additional minerals that are needed by the body. I receive anywhere from 35-150 mg a day of Iodine from a few teaspoons of kelp much cheaper than a Lugol's tab.

Regarding possible harmful effect in kelp...kelp can have trace amounts of bromine and while bromine is not seen as essential it is beneficial in this form for issues of hyperthyroidism, so if you are hypothyroid no problem. For those who are hypothyroid bromine in seaweed only appears to be a problem when there is a high consumption of goitrogenic foods That block Iodine uotake like crucifers and sweet potato, lima beans, rutabaga and cabbage.

Again for hyperthyroidism the bromine ratio of some seaweeds is essential as the trace bromine helps inhibit T-3 and T-4 hormones.

Elemental Iodine in the large amounts expounded result in tissue injury acidosis and the ultimate finality in progression of death, this does not happen with a whole food. Lugols and Iodoral are ok to immediately get needed iodine to the system in the case of a disease that has iodine deficiency as the cause, however those cases as well all others would benefit from getting iodine the natural way from a food source it is not a difficult thing.
