This was the warning from Carey Reams on doing the protocol

Why can it be fatal ? It's because the pancreas gets a lot more enzymes that it was used too and all of a sudden starts to produce a lot more insulin. You can imagine what happens. When bloodsugar levels fall too low, due to excessive insulin, you can fade or fall into a coma, which might very well prove to be fatal.

The implicaton is very clear, that this is not a gradual reaction.

The first time I did it by the book: 9:1 mix. After 4 doses. Nothing. The response was because I didn't use high quality lemons. OK. 2nd attempt . High quality lemons. Straight up, no dilution. Ate immediately. Not a hint of a change.

When you eat anything, the change in your gluscose level is immediate. The lemons alledgedly induce an insulin response. 2 hours is plenty of time to see something. If the change were gradual there would be no need for the dire warning.

Now, perhaps, this only means it applies to those with an allergic sensitivity to lemon juice.  But, that is not how I am reading it.
