Musings On Lemon and the Liver

Lots of interesting questions! What I do know (not much, and not sure how/if any of it fits together) is this:

I am a type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic. I also have problems with my liver in that I probably have a low-functioning phase 2 pathway. In any case, detoxing is difficult for me.

When my liver is working well, my blood sugar will plummet and my insulin requirements go way down. When I am acidic, my liver does not work so well. The level of candida I have in my system at any one time plays a huge role in how acidic I am. After my first "cure" from candida in 2001 (it came back) by insulin requirements were very small, I almost went off insulin.

Lemon is well-known as a liver cleanser. I eat about 3 large lemons a day, sometimes in water, sometimes plain, and I do believe it helps. But, I have never had anything near any sort of fatal blood sugar plunge from eating lemons. It is almost always on a empty stomach, therefore, I have a hard time seeing how just lemon in water would cause that. I know plenty of folks who will drink lemon water throughout the day, and it does indeed help their livers, but their blood sugar seesm fine.

There is such a thing called the "mini liver flush" which involves taking a table spoon or 2 of lemon juice with a tablespoon of olive oil, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, so I am not sure if the water is the key component?
