Yes: the cornerstone of fasting (which in itself is a state of nutrition because you are feeding on your stored food reserves) is detox BUT it is also an important period of physiological rest to enable the body to heal itself. Shelton: the worlds foremost authority called fasting the above, but also called it a "cessation of doing". Ingesting heavy protein or fat does in fact break the fast because you are no longer feeding on your stored food reserves.
However, ALL food contains a certain degree of protein or the building blocks of life.
Juice fasting is therefore feeding but without the huge burden of energy required by the body for the digestion of fibre, so cleansing and healing can occur at the same time. I can also tell you of the benefits of Water Fasting by having done so for 25 days in 1976 & intermittently thereafter.
Gerson included Juice fasting in his protocol.
