It IS true that the federal government is pushing a Global ID card-- which is proposed for 2008- and issued when you renew your drivers' license--at the same centers.

One or two States DID opt out already- but looks like the remaining States will not.

We will have to present our birth certificate and a slew of other forms of ID that most people will not have available- and expect to stand in line for the entire day so you may want to take the day off from Work.


If you refuse the Global ID, your driver's license will not be accepted as ID anywhere as accepted identification.

This proposal hasn't been passed yet- but as I mentioned 1 or 2 States already opted out. Tweet
