Zapping may work under the following circumstances.

When used with a center pivot in the irrigation mode, the ground will be wet enough and contains sufficient salts for signal conduction. There may need to be a zapper for each tower section.

According to Robert O. Becker, bone has semiconductor properties so it would seem that tooth material may be similar in that respect.
