The problem here is that a pivot often reaches 1/4 mile or even 1/2 mile in one direction. We are talking about thousands of acres that must be zapped with a minimum of cost.

Also, the method mentioned did not kill the night crawlers but simply forced them to the surface trying to escape the shock.
