You are right about the need for trace minerals and most potto growers are aware of this.

From my experience, potato growers are quite extensive in monitoring the fields, some even having moisture meters, rain gauges, anemometers, etc installed in their fields. Potatos are far more difficult and expensive to grow than hay is.
